Building a Next-Generation Community Ice Sheet Model

A workshop entitled “Building a next-generation community ice sheet model” was held at Los Alamos National Laboratory on August 18-20, 2008. The workshop was sponsored by the LANL Institute for Geophysics and Planetary Physics (IGPP), with additional support from the National Science Foundation and the Department of Energy. The workshop goal was to create a detailed plan for developing, testing, and applying a Community Ice Sheet Model (CISM) to aid in predicting 21st century sea-level rise resulting from the retreat of large ice sheets.
