    v32 v33
44The Los Alamos sea ice model (CICE) is the result of an effort to develop a computationally efficient sea ice component for use in fully coupled, atmosphere-ice-ocean-land global circulation models, and it was originally developed to be compatible with the Parallel Ocean Program (POP). The current version of the model has been enhanced greatly through collaborations with members of the  [http://www2.cesm.ucar.edu/ Community Climate System Model]   [http://www2.cesm.ucar.edu/working-groups/pcwg Polar Climate Working Group], based at the [http://www.ncar.ucar.edu/ National Center for Atmospheric Research], and researchers at the [http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/climatechange/science/hadleycentre/ U. K. Met Office Hadley Centre], the [http://www.cpom.org/index.html Centre for Polar Observation and Modelling], and the [http://www.nrl.navy.mil/field-sites/stennis/ U. S. Naval Research Laboratory].  We especially thank the DOE [http://www.oc.nps.edu/NAME/RASM.htm Regional Arctic System Model (RASM)] effort for both funding and the dedication required to get CICE v5.1 running successfully in both RASM and CESM, along with the addition of many model enhancements.
